For the first time since 2019, KPMG firms’ tax and legal leaders from the EMA region will convene with you to share ideas and discuss approaches to shared challenges in a real-world space at the 2023 KPMG EMA Tax & Legal Summit, organized by KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft.
The Summit will bring together Tax Leaders from around the world with notable speakers and leading economic, political and tax experts and commentators. Past speakers have included policymakers, journalists, government ministers, OECD representatives and speakers from the UN. The quality of the speakers is a crucial Summit ingredient, and we believe that this year will be no exception.
Overall, the Summit’s design will help encourage interaction, networking and the exploration of practical approaches.
The main plenary sessions will explore major trends impacting on the day-to-day tax operations of multinationals.
- The new geopolitics of tax: in the opening session, we will look at the fallout from trade wars, inflation, global conflicts, the pandemic, tax protectionism and the trend toward deglobalization. As supply chains and tax strategies are reshaped, how should those leading the tax function manage such unprecedented developments?
- Consensus in crisis: in the second session, we will log the latest attempts to deliver global consensus and agreed international tax norms. Accepting that this goal is a way off, we will explore ways of navigating the fragmented reality facing Tax Leaders across the world.
- Society and inequality: in the final session, we will look at the ways in which societal trends including the advancements of artificial intelligence are shaping attitudes to multinationals and taxation. This session will consider how best Tax Leaders might influence future developments.
Tax Technical Sessions will offer a deep dive into particular areas focusing not only on the technicalities, but also on the practicalities of making things happen, organizationally. The session topics include: navigating the ESG agenda, understanding operational transfer pricing, taxing the digital economy, unpacking global trends in tax controversy, complying with minimum tax, and preparing for global tax policy developments.
Sector Insight & Networking Sessions will help create a networking environment for Tax Leaders from individual sectors to share sector-based strategic and operational insights. The sessions will focus on: consumer goods, energy and natural resources, financial services, industrial manufacturing and automotive, life sciences, and technology, media and telecommunications.
Tradecraft Sessions will explore how technology will change the tax function as you know it.
