    Plenary: Horizon scanning – Focus on the future direction of Hong Kong (SAR) and the OECD

    Delegates will be welcomed to the 2024 KPMG Asia Pacific Tax Summit by David Linke, Global Head of Tax & Legal, KPMG International and Lewis Lu, Head of Tax & Legal for the Asia Pacific Region, KPMG China, who will provide their views on global and regional tax landscape.

    The future direction of Hong Kong (SAR)
    The Summit’s first keynote speaker, Joseph Chan, the Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of Hong Kong (SAR), will share his perspective on the initiatives and economic policies shaping the future of Hong Kong (SAR) as a pivotal global and regional commercial and financial hub. The discussion aims to help empower tax leaders to navigate and leverage the dynamic landscape of Hong Kong (SAR) now and in the years ahead.

    The future direction of the OECD 

    Manal Corwin, Director of the Centre for Tax Policy and Administration, OECD and Tim Power, Chair of the OECD Committee on Fiscal Affairs, will share their views on current and future direction of global tax reform. This will be followed by a discussion to further explore some of the key policy aspects. Speakers include Conrad Turley, Head of Tax Policy, Asia Pacific Region, KPMG China, Vinod Kalloe, Head of Tax Policy, EMA Region and Partner, KPMG Netherlands, Alistair Pepper, Managing Director, KPMG in the US and former OECD Policy Advisor, Yong Sing Yuan Tax Partner, KPMG in Singapore.

    John Timpany, Head of Tax, Hong Kong (SAR) and ASPAC Head of Tax Reimagined, KPMG China and Darren Bowdern, Head of Alternative Investments and Head of Asset Management Tax, ASPAC Region, KPMG China, will provide opening remarks for Day 2.

    Plenary 4: Trends and developments across business, economics, and geopolitics
    Delegates will hear from Weijian Shan, Founder and Chairman of PAG, a leading alternative investment firm focused on the Asia Pacific region, who will share his views on the state of play of the private capital market and some of the macro trends influencing the outlook for economies in China and the rest of Asia.

    Plenary 5: The Future of Tax Administration

    Delegates will hear from Benjamin Chan, Hong Kong Commissioner, who will give his perspective on roles of tax administrators in setting a conducive business environment in a rapidly changing tax landscape.

    Rob Heferen, ATO Commissioner,  will also share his views on the latest developments and transformation trends in tax administration.
